Meet Vincent Stanek, Big Y Service Clerk
Wilbraham, MA

From the moment you walk in, what makes the difference to us is that you feel welcomed every step of the way. Our service clerks are the last stop on your trip and they are here to handle your essentials with care and to complete the Big Y experience for you. Meet one of our own.

How long have you been with Big Y?

Since the day Wilbraham store opened 13 years ago, June 13, 2008.

What’s a day in the life of a bagger like?

The day is awesome. I love my job and love the customers and taking care of them. I love being there for everyone.

What’s the secret to being a good bagger?

To be careful with the customer’s groceries. They are spending a lot on food and it is important we handle them with care.

What’s the funniest/weirdest combination of items you’ve had to bag?

I once bagged a toilet bowl cleaner with food in the same bag at a customer’s request!

What are stories from the register? Funny, touching, wacky?

For the most part, every day brings new challenges. We have the chance to get to know the customers personally and enjoy listening to their stories. That’s what this job is all about. It’s our last chance to make an impression.

Who is your favorite Big Y Shopper?

Miss Mable and Miss Rose. Always so kind, funny and full of positive energy.

If you had to say one thing to the next generation of baggers, what would it be?

Do your best every day!

Do you see this as a stepping stone into a career at Big Y?

Yes, I want to stay with Big Y for as long as I can.
