Respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Older adults are more likely to develop severe RSV and need hospitalization. Vaccines are available to protect adults over the age of 60 from severe RSV if they are at an increased risk of RSV infection.
