1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2: Wash hands with soap and water.
3: In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; stir in sugar and raisins. Wash hands after handling raw flour.
4: Add buttermilk and mix until it reaches a doughy consistency.
5: On a floured surface, knead dough for 5 minutes. Form into a round loaf and, with a floured knife, cut a deep cross on top of dough to keep bread from bursting during the baking process; place on a baking sheet. Wash hands after handling raw flour.
6: Bake bread for 40 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from oven and cool before slicing.
