Information
The Quaker Oats Company has announced an expansion of the December 15, 2023 recall to include additional cereals and bars. Additional products also include Gamesa Marias cereal and Cap’n Crunch Instant Oatmeal. This expansion also includes Gatorade Protein Peanut Butter Chocolate bars, based on an ingredient supplied from Quaker.
Additional products are recall because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
To date, Quaker has received no confirmed reports of illness related to the products covered by this recall. No other Quaker products are impacted by this recall.
Upon returning the product to your local Big Y or with the proof of purchase (if the product was discarded), you will receive a full refund.
