2: Rinse all fresh produce items under cold running water prior to prepping.
3: Place oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
4: In a large bowl whisk together, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and 2 tablespoons sugar. Wash hands after handling raw flour.
5: Blend in butter with a pastry blender or 2 forks until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add buttermilk and stir just until a soft, sticky dough forms.
6: Drop dough in 6 mounds about 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar. Bake for 12 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Transfer biscuits to a rack and cool.
7: In a large bowl using an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat together cream, 1 tablespoon sugar and vanilla until gently soft peaks form.
8: Carefully cut biscuits in half horizontally and arrange bottom half, split side up, on 6 plates. Top each with berries, whipped cream and top half of biscuit.
