History Behind the Hunt
Learn about the tradition of the Easter egg hunt.
Early Christian missionaries hid Easter eggs painted with biblical scenes for children to find. The children would find the Easter eggs and tell the story associated with the paintings. Therefore, early Easter egg hunts helped children learn about the significance of Easter. The hunt symbolizes the joy and excitement of the spring season.

Easter vs Orthodox Easter
What is the difference between Easter and Orthodox Easter
Christians celebrate Easter on the first Sunday following the full moon that occurs after the spring equinox following the Gergorian Calendar. Orthodox Christians celebrate Easter between April 4th and May 8th, following the full moon after Passover. They follow the Julian Calendar. This year Easter will be observed on Sunday March 31st, 2024 and Orthodox Easter will be observed on May 5th, 2024.
