Little Y Kids Club® Rules of Operation

To ensure the safety of the children in our care and your peace of mind, the following rules of operation will be enforced at all times:

  • Based on availability, per state statutes, children must be between the ages of 3 and 9, and in good health to be admitted to the Little Y Kids Club, regardless of their race or religion.
  • Children must be dropped off and picked up by the same parent or guardian. There are NO exceptions.
  • Parent/guardian and child must wear identification bracelets provided by Big Y at all times while using the Little Y Kids Club.
  • Per State Statutes, the parent/guardian MUST remain at Big Y and listen to in-store announcements during the time their child is at the Little Y Kids Club. Any person leaving the premises will lose the privilege of using the Little Y Kids Club.
  • Parent/guardian who drop children off at the Little Y Kids Club will be issued a beeper through which they can be contacted by the staff if necessary. Beepers should be turned in when a child is picked up from the Club.
  • Children are permitted to stay at the Little Y Kids Club for a maximum of two (2) hours per day.
  • The parent/guardian is encouraged to bring their child to the restroom before entering the Little Y Kids Club. If a child needs to use the restroom or requires a diaper change while at the Little Y Kids Club, the parent will be notified using their assigned beeper system or in-store PA so they may bring their child to the restroom. Little Y Kids Club staff are not permitted to accompany a child to the restroom or to change diapers.
  • The Little Y Kids Club capacity is limited to twenty (20) children. We are required by law to deny access to the area when it reaches capacity.
  • Children will not be permitted to enter the Little Y Kids Club if they are ill or show signs of any communicable diseases or conditions. The decision to admit a child is at the sole discretion of the Little Y Kids Club staff. Diseases or conditions that exclude children from the Little Y Kids Club include, but are not limited to: chicken pox, diphtheria, gastroenteritis, head lice, hepatitis (Type A), impetigo, influenza, measles, German measles, meningitis (bacterial and viral), mumps, pink eye, polio, ringworm, salmonellosis, scabies, shigellosis, strep throat, scarlet fever, TB, and whooping cough.
  • In order to maintain the highest standards of care for your children and while recognizing that our staff is not trained to care for children with severe special needs, Big Y must retain the right to deny admission to children whom their staff reasonably believes they are not trained to provide care for.
  • The Little Y Kids Club staff is not authorized to administer any prescription or non-prescription medication. If your child requires medication of any kind, it should be administerd before the child enters the Little Y Kids Club. Storage of medication inside the Little Y Kids Club is prohibited.
  • All participating children must wear a name tag issued by the Little Y Kids Club.
  • The parent/guardian is responsible for the behavior of their child. Uncontrollable behavior will not be tolerated. If a child behaves improperly, the parent/guardian will be called to the Little Y Kids Club to remove their child. Little Y Kids Club staff do not have the authority to reprimand or use any form of punishment. Uncontrollable behavior may lead to loss of Little Y privileges.
  • No personal toys, food, or drink are allowed in the Little Y Kids Club. Big Y is not responsible for any lost or stolen articles.
  • In the event an emergency evacuation of the store becomes necessary, children will be escorted to a secure area outside of the premises. The parent/guardian is encouraged to accompany the children out of the store, at which time normal pick-up procedures can be followed. Our primary concern in such emergency situations is the safety and accountability of each child at all times.
  • Failure to follow the Rules of Operation may lead to the loss of Little Y privileges.
  • Parent/guardian must have a Big Y Express Savings Club card in their own name in order to sign a child into Little Y. Parent/guardian is not allowed to share Express Savings Club card numbers.
  • Parent/guardian will have their own personal registration card for each child that they sign in to Little Y. Parent/guardian is not allowed to share registration cards.
  • Parent/guardian must be at least 18 years of age in order to sign a child into the Little Y Kids Club.
