Headquartered in Springfield, MA, Big Y is one of the largest independently owned supermarket chains in New England. Proud to be family owned and operated, we operate almost 80 stores throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts with over 11,000 employees. Big Y has been named a 2015 Employer of Choice by the Employers Association of the Northeast. Founded in 1936 by brothers Paul and Gerald D'Amour, the store was named after an intersection in Chicopee, Massachusetts where two roads converge to form a "Y".

Milford and Easton Big Y's Are Reborn

SPRINGFIELD, MA (April 11, 2018)

Big Y Foods, Inc. is pleased to announce the completion of the renovations at their Milford, MA store at 7 Medway Road as well as at their Easton, MA store at 25 Robert Drive. Construction began in Milford in February while construction in Easton began last October. These multi-million dollar upgrade efforts included major renovations in many areas of each store and various new additions in response to changing customer needs.

Official cake cutting ceremonies to celebrate the Grand Re-openings are planned for Friday, April 13th at 10:00 a.m. in Easton and 1:00 p.m.in Milford.

Easton now includes a brand new Big Y Pizza Shop. Big Y pizza is made with fresh, store-made dough, vine ripened tomatoes, whole milk mozzarella and fresh toppings. The upgraded sales floor in Easton also features a new sandwich station that offers fresh, made to order grinders as well as a donut fry operation in their bakery. Additionally in Easton is a new fish fry station as well as new fresh display cases in the seafood and meat departments.

Milford shoppers will find a brand new seafood department with a fish fry operation, new bakery displays, a new food service department, and a brand new café for customers to relax in. New décor, fixtures, and LED lighting were installed in many departments and additional cosmetic upgrades can be found throughout both stores.

Another new feature in both stores is self-scan registers to speed up the checkout process for customers.

The stores in Milford and Easton are both open from 7 AM to 9 PM on Sunday and 7 AM to 10 PM on Monday through Saturday. The Easton store has a pharmacy with hours of 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Monday through Friday and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

The store director in Easton is Kevin Petrillo. The store currently has 164 employees and has already added 10 additional staff members to coincide with the remodel. The store director in Milford is Karen Sultan. The store currently has 135 employees. They have added 5 to coincide with the remodel and are currently looking for a full-time Assistant Night Crew Chief. All interested applicants should apply at www.bigy.com.

Big Y markets in Milford and Easton originally opened on September 10, 2016 after Big Y acquired 8 stores from Hannaford.

April 13th Grand Reopening events are being planned for both stores with complimentary samples of Big Y's celebration cake, coffee, donuts and other refreshments along with store-wide product samples. The celebration will continue throughout the next week with free samples of sushi, hot soups, super chicken tenders, World Classics turkey, Berkshire Breads, new cheeses, chicken salad and more.

As part of the celebrations, every school K-12 within each town will receive 500,000 Big Y Education Express points that can be used to obtain free equipment for their schools. Education Express is Big Y's program to help local schools get free, much needed supplies and equipment. Introduced in 1993, Education Express is an innovative program that takes the burden off the individual schools and teachers and allows the community to provide support. Since 1993, with customers' help, over 2,000 local schools have received approximately 14 million dollars of supplies and equipment through the Education Express program.
