Headquartered in Springfield, MA, Big Y is one of the largest independently owned supermarket chains in New England. Proud to be family owned and operated, we operate almost 80 stores throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts with over 11,000 employees. Big Y has been named a 2015 Employer of Choice by the Employers Association of the Northeast. Founded in 1936 by brothers Paul and Gerald D'Amour, the store was named after an intersection in Chicopee, Massachusetts where two roads converge to form a "Y".

Big Y Appoints Marketing VP
SPRINGFIELD, MA (April 4, 2018)
The Board of Directors of Big Y Foods, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of John W. Schnepp III as vice president of marketing. In this role, Schnepp will continue to oversee all marketing and advertising for the company by coordinating all print, electronic, digital and social platforms as well as all internal and external communications across all of Big Y's brands including Big Y World Class Markets, Fresh Acres, Table & Vine and Big Y Express Gas and Convenience stores. In addition, he is newly responsible for the database marketing efforts which include data mining tactics, metrics, customer loyalty and personalized communications. He reports to Michael P. D'Amour, executive vice president.
Schnepp's career with Big Y spans over 40 years where he has acquired a wealth of experience both within a store and beyond. He started as a part time service clerk in their former Breckwood Blvd. Springfield, MA store in 1975. From there he moved on to various in-store positions until his promotion to full time as an assistant grocery manager in 1981 and on to grocery manager later that same year. He served as a store manager from 1987 to 1992 when he was tapped to be the chain's Bakery sales manager, a position he held for the next 5 years. In 1997, he was appointed director of advertising.
Schnepp holds an A.D. from both Springfield Technical Community College and B.A. from American International College.
A resident of Feeding Hills, MA, he and his wife, Anna, have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
