  Apple Chips

Before you start....
Check first with your Mom or Dad to be sure it's OK for you to cook. A grown-up should be in the kitchen to help, especially when using the stove and handling hot things
  • Read the recipe carefully. Make sure that you have all the ingredients (foods) and equipment (measuring spoons, cups, pitcher, etc.) you will need.
  • Make room to work. Clear and wash the counter.
  • Get out everything you will need to make the recipe.
  • Wash your hands. Make the recipe and then read it carefully again to be sure you haven't forgotten any ingredient.
  • When you are through, remember that a good cook cleans up! Wash things in warm, soapy water.
INGREDIENTS:

Apples
Cinnamon spice
Nutmeg
Lemon juice
(For all ingredients, the amounts are up to you. Also, lemon juice is optional.)

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Peel and core the apples. Slice them as thin as you can. For the best results, the slices should be no more than 1/8th of an inch in thickness. Let the apple slices sit in a bowl of lemon juice to keep them from browning. Next, add the cinnamon and nutmeg to your liking. Place slices on a cookie sheet with 1 layer of foil. DO NOT overlap any slices, or they will not dry properly. Cook the apple slices for one to two hours, or until they are completely dried. Now, the slices are the Apple Chips. Allow chips to cool on a wire rack before eating.
