Torrington, CT - (April 8, 2008) - Big Y Foods, Inc. will be hiring 50 additional employees to staff its new Torrington location. The supermarket at the current location was originally opened many years ago as a Greenfields until Big Y acquired it in 1988. In 1999 Big Y again renovated the 53,000 square foot market with added conveniences but has finally outgrown its old location. When the opportunity arose to build a completely new Big Y World Class Market with all new conveniences and departments within 67,640 square feet, Big Y did not hesitate. Construction began last August and the store is now hiring additional staff for a May grand opening. Hiring and interviewing will be conducted at the current Torrington location at 420 Winsted Road.
