A National Historic Landmark, Hill-Stead Museum is considered perhaps “the finest Colonial Revival house and museum in America.” The 1901 33,000 square-foot mansion is filled with world-renowned art collection. During an hour-long guided tour, see French Impressionist masterpieces by Monet and Degas, as well as notable works by Whistler, Manet and Cassatt, hung amid original furnishings. Ramble over meadows and woodland trails on the 152-acre historic property, including a c. 1920 restored sunken garden. Take exit 39, I-84 East or West. Follow Rt. 4 West. Turn left onto Rt. 10 South. At first light, turn left onto Mountain Road. Museum entrance is ¼ mile up hill on left. Open Tues. – Sun. 11:00 to 4:00. Last tour begins one hour before closing.
