(Also known as African Horned Melon)
For over 3,000 years this African Horned Melon has been fascinating us all. The spiky golden-orange shell encases a soft succulent seed-filled emerald green flesh. It's flavor is reminiscent of a cucumber with notes of melon and lime. This fruit's versatility extends beyond eating. Simply cut in half and scoop the translucent jelly-like flesh out of the melon to create a unique yet lovely serving dish, or tossed in fresh fruit salads or served as a garnish with roasted meats.
Seasonality: Available year-round.
Selection & Storage: Ripe Horned Melons will have a bright orange shell. Avoid any bruises or spots. No need to refrigerate and the seeds are edible. Horned Melon shells can be used as unique servings bowls for many favorite dishes.
