Caring... for Berries

Berries are delicious, but they’re also highly perishable and delicate. For the best flavor, enjoy your berries as soon as possible after bringing them home. If you need to store them, here are a few tips to keep them their tastiest:

• Refrigerate berries rightaway and store at temperatures between 34° and 38°F.

• Don’t wash berries until you’re ready to eat them.

• Make sure berries are drywhen stored — moisture will make them spoil faster.

• Store berries in their original containers.

• Strawberries will last 2-5 days in your refrigerator. When you’re ready to serve them, rinse them gently under cool water before slicing. They’ll taste their best if you let them reach room temperature.

• Raspberries are quite delicate and ideally should be eaten right away. If you store them, be sure to eatthem within 1-2 days.

• Blueberries will keep for up to aweek in the refrigerator. You canalso freeze them in tightly sealed containers; make sure you don’t wash them before freezing, asthis will toughen their skin. (Remember to wash them after thawing, though!)

• Eat blackberries as soon as possible; they’ll keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. If you wish to freeze them, wash them gently first andthen pack into tightly sealed containers and keep frozen until ready to use.
