Talkig With Tara - The Cheating Game

You always seem to have too much homework. Tonight, there is a TV show that you really want to watch. Two of your friends call you on the phone and suggest that if each of you finishes different problems on the math homework, it will get done faster. Finishing your homework will give you time to watch your show. After all, you are completing some of the assignment, so it isn’t really cheating, is it?

Cheating is defined as “misleading, deceiving or acting dishonestly on purpose.”

Most of your friends will admit that cheating is wrong. However, cheating is a temptation that is hard to resist because schoolwork, sports and even extracurricular activities take up most of your time.

Here are some steps to help you succeed and resist from cheating.

1. BE HONEST. Cheating is dishonest and most of you would not cheat now that you understand that it is wrong.

2. ELIMINATE THE PRESSURE. Understand that you can’t be good at everything. Limit the number of after school activities you are involved in and make time for your homework. It will pay off as you get older.

3. KNOWLEDGE IS KEY. What you don’t learn today will catch up with you in the future. Education is the key to success.

Don’t get caught up in “The Cheating Game.” Remember, cheaters only cheat themselves. Learn the material, resist the temptation to cheat and limit the amount of after school activities to focus on a bright future.
