Homestyle, Home-Baked Goods From Big Y's Patisserie
Nothing says “home” like something fresh from the bakery, still warm from the oven. And nothing will please your family like something from the Big Y
Bakery. From bagels, croissants and Danish to get your morning started, old-fashioned crusty rolls and old-world-style artisan breads to accent your dinner, and, of course, amazingly delicious desserts for an absolutely perfect sweet ending.
Chabaso Bakery, New Haven, CT - This family-owned artisan bakery
is named for owner Charlie Negaro’s three children: Charlie, Abigail and Sophia (Ch-Aba-So). After growing up making donuts in his father’s Waterbury, Connecticut grocery store, Negaro took a trip to Paris as a young man — and that’s where he really fell in love with food. Determined to bring classic French-style baguettes to New England, Negaro founded his bakery. Chabaso now bakes and sells old-world-style, authentic artisan-style breads — more than two dozen varieties of loaves, rolls, and breadsticks, every one with a crunchy, flaky crust and light, moist interior.
Trappist Preserves, Spencer, MA - St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, has been home to the austere Trappist monks for more than 50 years. Part of their tradition includes working together and living off of the products of their labor. Since 1954, when they first made a batch of jelly from the mint growing in their herb garden, the monks at St. Joseph’s have been creating delicious homemade preserves. They’ve been refining and perfecting their recipes for decades. Today they continue their tradition of excellence, crafting their homemade preserves using nothing but the finest all-natural ingredients — no artificial colors or flavors, just farm-fresh fruits.
Mozzicato Depasquale Bakery, Hartford, CT - More than once, this classic Italian-style bakery has been voted Best Bakery in Connecticut. One taste of their amazing pastries and it’s easy to see why. For the past 36 years, the Mozzicato family has been baking authentic cakes, cookies and pastries in their Hartford bakery and cafe. Made with love, care, tradition and only the finest ingredients, Mozzicato’s baked goods are truly some of the region’s finest.
