A: It is a cylinder exchange service that allows you to bring in your empty propane tank and exchange it for a full one.

How does it work?
A: You drop off your empty tank at the drop off spot by the Blue Rhino display (located at the front of your favorite Big Y store).

Come in do your shopping and when you get to the register let the cashier know that you have an empty tank out front to exchange.

The cashier rings up the exchange with the rest of your purchases.

When you are ready to leave a Big Y representative will go out to the Blue Rhino display and get you your new full tank. We’ll even be happy to help you load it into your car!

What are the advantages?
A: No waiting in any unnecessary lines.

No going out of your way to get your tank refilled.

But most importantly you are getting a tank that has been safety inspected, leak tested, and meets all current Federal and Local safety laws and requirements.

How much does it cost?
A: For an even exchange the cost is $19.99

If you have an older tank with older valves, you can upgrade to a tank with newer safety valves for a cost of $36.99

You may also buy a filled spare tank outright at a cost of $49.99.

PLEASE NOTE: Consumers can only purchase or have filled the newer type tank valve. The older type is the one you have to use a wrench to put on, the newer type you can attach by hand with no tools.
