- Keep nails out of your mouth. That is the biggest problem. You find yourself with a jagged edge and it's your teeth that goes to work on them, instead of an emery board.
- Try to limit your use of polish remover to once a week.
- Apply moisturizer while flying to prevent dehydration.
- Give your nails a rest. If you are wearing acrylic nails, remove them one month out of six. You could have an infection and not even be aware of it.
- File your nails using a foam emery board. Never use metal.
- Massage your fingers with a cuticle cream. It feels great and your cuticles will love it.
- The longer the nail, the more vulnerable. The longest they should be is 3/4 of inch beyond the nail bed.
