Shredded or grated cheese can be measured by weight or volume.

To get the most accurate measurements with shredded cheese, follow these guidelines:
  4 ounces of most cheese = 1 cup shredded
  4 ounces blue cheese = 1 cup crumbled
  3 ounces Parmesan or Romano cheese = 1 cup grated
