- Eggs are full of protein, low in sodium and contain many of the vitamins and minerals we need to maintain a healthy and balanced diet.
- One large egg contains 4.5 grams of fat (1.5 grams of saturated fat) and 213 milligrams of cholesterol.
- Each egg contains 70 calories.
Eggs are also inexpensive and easy to prepare.

- Purchase eggs from refrigerated cases and always refrigerated them at home
- Use only properly refrigerated, clean , unbroken shelled, fresh, grade A or AA
- The best way to store eggs is in their own carton because eggs can absorb refrigerator odors.
- Fresh shell eggs can be kept in their carton for at least 4-5 weeks beyond the pack date.
- Hard cooked eggs should be kept in the refrigerator for up to one week.
