classic pot roast

Servings: makes 12 (4-oz.) servings.
1 tsp. Big Y canola oil
3 lb. lean All Natural Angus beef bottom round roast, tied
-Big Y salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
1 pkg. Big Y dry onion soup mix
4 garlic cloves, sliced
4 turnips, quartered
3 onions, quartered
6 carrots, chopped
3 Tbsp. Big Y all-purpose flour
3 Tbsp. water
Add oil to a large skillet and place over medium-high heat. Once hot, brown the roast on all sides. Season roast to taste with salt and pepper and place in the bottom of a slow cooker. Sprinkle onion soup mix over the roast. Add garlic, turnips, onion and carrots. Cover and cook on low for 10 hours or on high for 5 hours. Pour accumulated juices into a saucepan; skim off fat.
In a small bowl, combine flour and water to form a paste. Add paste to saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until thickened. Serve with sliced pot roast.
